Last night, I dreamt I was with my wife in Thiruchendur Murugan Temple and we were seated on the floor facing the utsava murthi (on the side). I noticed a priest standing beside Lord Murugan with Valli and Deivayaanai. I noticed a spotlight that was on and was shining on the utsava murthi that we carry around the temple. Lord Murugan looked so beautifully decorated with nice fresh flowers. Just looking at Him made me and my wife smile blissfully. I also noticed the priest standing beside Murugan with his hands together praying to Lord Murugan. I didn’t recognize the priest – it was someone I haven’t seen before. He then turned his head and began smiling at all the devotees.
I then spoke to a devotee beside me and said, “You know we (my wife and I) love this temple because we get to sing ‘Naadha Vindhu’ for Lord Murugan.”
The devotee beside me said, “Oh really?”
And I replied, “Yeah, it’s a very special temple for my wife and me. We love coming here and singing for Murugan.”
As soon as I said that, the entire devotee congregation started singing “Naadha Vindhu!”
My wife and I joined the group and sang along – we were so happy because we got to sing one of our favourite Thiruppugal songs.
As we sang together, I noticed the priest hand out a pancha arathi to each devotee who then held it in their hands and showed it to Lord Murugan – as we all continued to sing “Naadha Vindhu.”
Then the devotee handed it to me and my wife and we offered the pancha arathi to Lord Murugan and coincidentally(?), that was when we were singing the verse, “…dheepa mangala jOthi namO nama…”
I then awoke. Thank you my sweet loving dear Muruga for allowing us to pray to you in your Thirukovil and for granting us the rare privilege of praying to you, singing to you, and offering ananda katpura niraajanam / managala aarathi to you in our dream! What a rare privilege and blessing you give to your devotees.
With lots of tears of gratitude and love,
Your Children of Light
