Pancha patram with uddharani – filled with water
(pronounced ‘pancha / paa-thee-ram’ / ud-dha-ra-nee)
Akshatas = rice mixed with tumeric powder
(pronounced ‘ak-sha-taas’)
Ghanta = bell
(pronounced ‘ghan-taa’)
Lighter / Matchbox (to light lamps)
Dipam = lamp
(pronounced ‘dhee-pam’)
Vilakku = lamp
Vibhuthi = sacred holy ash
(pronounced ‘vi-bhoo-thee’)
Chanthanam = sandle wood paste
(pronounced ‘chan-tha-nam’)
Kungkumam = vermillon powder
(pronounced ‘kung-ku-mam’)
Pushpam = flowers or flower-petals
(pronounced ‘push-pam’)
Dhupam = incense
(pronounced ‘dhoo-pam’)
Ghee = clarified butter (or alternatively, you may use sesame seed oil)
Thiree = cotton wicks (to be lit for lamp)
